Ellie-May

Just wanted to let you know that Ellie-May, the basset I adopted from you guys on the weekend, is doing super.  My other two dogs didn't bat an eye when they first saw her in the backyard, and the two bassets are so cute to watch when they start playing together.  Slowly she's learning about living in a house and every day I can see her relax just a little more.  At night she sleeps on the bed with me and my other two, with her head on my leg.  She's also doing OK with being crated during the day, after not being too keen on it at first.  Hopefully soon she can graduate to having the run of the house!

She loves our walks and going to the dog park and, after being a bit shy and overwhelmed, has got to the point of wagging her tail and going to greet new people and other dogs.  She gobbles down her kibble, and is learning about biscuits and other treats.  She goes to the vet on Saturday for a once-over and to have the stitches out.

Thanks for such a great pet!  I hope Jethro finds a good home, too.

Update May '11 ...

Thought I would send this pic of two of your "graduates" of a few years ago who now live with me:  Ellie-Mae and Cheerios (formerly Barkley).  Both continue to do very well.  Cheery has proven to be a real character.  From having patchy hair with rough red spots, his coat has recovered to be beautifully long and lush (for a basset) with a funny big brown spot on his tummy.  Super dogs both - thank you!

Sadly, Ellie-May has passed away and she is now remembered on our Rainbow Bridge page.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Ellie-May's family.
