          We adopted our cat
Toonses (formerly Simone) on Feb 1st, 2004.  My previous cat had
passed away two years before and I had been thinking it was time to
get another cat.  That morning I woke up and said to my husband "Today
we are getting a cat!".  We had just moved into a new house and had
all new furniture so my husband’s only request was that we try to find
one that was declawed (we would never have a cat declawed ourselves).

          We went to the
Aylmer SPCA to see what cats were available.  When I asked if they had
any that were declawed, the lady helping us said they didn't have any
there, but they had just sent 12 cats to Petsmart (on Merivale) the
day before and she was pretty sure that one had been a declawed cat.
She looked up her records and confirmed that there was one.  She
called Petsmart and they said that "Simone" was still there.

          We rushed over and
instantly fell in love with this beautiful 3 year old brown tabby with
huge eyes.  She was hiding at the back of her cage and was covering
her eyes with her paws but her eyes were still open so we knew she
wasn't sleeping.  We took her out and played with her, brushed her and
she was so calm so we decided to take her home.

          That was 4 years
ago and she is the best cat ever.  She is not much of a player, she
just likes to sleep and eat and look out the window.  Her favourite
place to sleep is in any new box that we bring home from Costco.  She
also loves spending time in the backyard wearing her harness.

          We have a very hard
time getting a good picture of her because of her very large eyes (her
          nickname is Hibou).

          Thank you so much
          for rescuing this pretty girl!
