          Sheba,
as you know, looks ferocious.  She also barks loudly at strangers,
particularly when they are men, she leaps tall fences effortlessly,
and she has been known to take apart squirrels with a single toss of
her mighty head.  When playing "stick", Sheba adapts whatever
long, thin thing in the environment comes closest to looking like a
regular stick and she seems so well to understand the concepts
of torque and balance that she can convert a 12-foot long anything
into her notion of something to be thrown by my husband.

          Then, about dark,
Sheba undergoes a personality transformation. Around the time my
husband finishes dinner (or perhaps a little before), Sheba
becomes a 56-lb. lap dog, jumping onto his lap, nuzzling and cuddling
into his chest and converting a fairly stoic, unemotional man into a
giggling, helpless fella.  Without a doubt, Sheba's in our family
          to stay.

          Keep well.

          Melinda D.
