Porter is doing well with us and is fitting into our furry family. He
is working on his manners with Coda, our 11yr old golden/border collie
mix (also a rescue - from Toronto). As well, he is learning his limits
with our cat, Lizzie Borden, 12 yrs old, who lives up to her name,
even at 5 lbs fully grown.
Porter loves to play with his toys by tossing them and running after
them. He can be a bit obsessive but is learning ... 'easy'. Porter has
learned to sit and take treats and food by hand, gently. He has put on
a few lbs since arriving and as he is a bit of a food hound we are
trying different things to help him eat slower. He loves to squeeze
into tight spots near us as well as cuddle under the blankets. He
feels comfy in his crate on his new bed and often retires there on his
own.
Porter is not a big fan of walks. We are not sure if that is because
of the weather, given he is a southern dog, or if he is afraid he will
be returned. We don't force him as he has a rather large yard and
house for exercise. But he has a complete wardrobe for any type of
weather, when we can get him out. We are hoping the spring will bring
him renewed belief in his permanency and interest in exploring our
hood. Porter still will not attempt the stairs as he is a bit of a
spaz with his long legs but we are good with that .... Less places for
him the get into trouble so we
carry
him up & down the stairs. He has a few favorite places in the house to
mark but we are working on that. Good thing the house is animal
friendly.
Porter is a welcome addition to our family. He has found his forever
home. I have attached a few pictures for reference.
Thank you for bringing Porter from so far away so he could end up in
our family.
