          Well,
it has been a little over two months since I adopted Jasmine (now
called Iona) and it has been an interesting time for both of us.
This little lady has changed dramatically since I brought her home
from the shelter.  She was such a timid and skittish little thing
and hadn't had a happy life.  For the first week, she was content
to stay in her crate and just watch me and her step-sister Ella (the
cat) go about our business.  Her tail stayed firmly hidden and
her ears down.  But with patience and encouragement, she has
started to display an endearing spirit and some feistiness.  Iona
is like a 9 year old puppy - everything is new to her and it is
heart-warming to watch her experience everything for the first time.

          Her
legs are stronger and she is now able to run up the stairs all on her
own (we're working on the down part).  She loves the outdoors and
going for long walks and especially enjoys running free in the
backyard - she even does little leaps in the air!  We go to the
dog park every week and she is so good with other dogs and people.
With the spring thaw, she is enjoying all the new smells and her nose
is always on the ground sniffing around.  She no longer hides her
tail and she even wags it when she is happy, her ears are up all the
time, and she isn't afraid to show her stubborn streak when she
doesn't want to do something.  I even got a kiss on the hand the
other day!  She is quiet and still quite timid, but so much
better than before (the vet couldn't believe the change in her!).
She loves lying on the couch and watching TV before bedtime and just
          watching the world go by.

          Every
day Iona does something that makes me laugh - whether it's chasing
leaves or falling through an ice-covered puddle.  I couldn't have
asked for a better companion.  Thanks to everyone who helped take
care of her before she came into my life.
