He
remains in his forever home. He loves his family and we love him. He
remains an energetic and an enthusiastic, but trained friend. He does
not jump anymore except on me when he gets the zoomies. He graduated
to off-leash this past autumn.
He
finally, finally has recall. He loves being off leash and we have an
off leash park at the end of our street. He has no interest in balls
or toys or fetch. He NEEDS to hunt. He is very, very happy "parfait"
dog. Duke says happy new year.
Update June '20
Duke
has continued to grow and thrive in his home. He lives between our
home in Ottawa, and Mont Tremblant Quebec. He thrives in both regions
and remains loved, cared for, and a true member of the family. His
home has the bonus of a nearby (end of our street) off leash park
(Grasshopper Hill). Duke has lots of friends there, including the
adults and his home in Tremblant. This is his turf which includes a
lake in the backyard which is where he finally recently discovered
that he has some retriever in him. It might sound like Duke won the
lottery doesn't it, well WE did. He is such a great companion dog! He
spends his days skateboarding with his girls, walking or running with
Dad and the girls, and lately this year he has taken to boat rides and
hanging out on the swim raft or dock at the cottage. Duke loves to
hunt, and steal stuff from his neighbour's yard. Duke spends his days
respecting the rules of the yard as well as his off leash time at the
park or wherever we feel safe. He is social and well adjusted in
groups of people and groups of dogs. He has graduated from being
somewhat wild, to schooling the younger pups and being loved by all.
Duke is healthy and terribly happy.
